   Rabbits are NOT rodents, but mammals of the family Leporidae. They are sociable and live underground in burrows (like the Weasleys) in contrast to hares, who are anti-social and snobbish and live above ground with their noses in the air. Hares have longer bodies and can run at speeds up to 72km/45 mph, which is pretty scary if you ask me. A hare under the age of a year is called a leveret.
